The Genesis Project is a registered charity (Charity Number 1194304). We originated as a support for the local children of our community through kids' clubs. Our mission started with the desire to provide a safe place for children away from their chaotic homes. However, the mission changed because many children come from families with drug/alcohol abuse, domestic violence, or knowledge of a family member or parent who is or has been in prison. Additionally, there have been many male suicides on the estate.
To make a deeper, longer lasting impact on the children’s lives, we needed to reach the parents too. In response, Friday Lunch began! Friday Lunch started slowly but gradually took off before COVID-19 hit. It was a place where people of all ages wanted to be, we became a community, we became a church in a totally different way.
Located at St. Oswald's Church and St. Chad's Church, our mission remains the same. You are invited to join us in worship at one of our church services!
Every week, we mobilise our team of volunteers to make a real difference through service and sharing the gospel through practical means to the community. This is a passionate team ready to see the hand of God create change and progress.
The Genesis Project has many partners in the local community. We serve and impact the community in a variety of ways, with our local schools, churches, and various other charities.
We partner with: Thirteen Housing Association, Middlesbrough Council Local Hub, The Teesside Charity #Youcan, St. Joseph's Catholic School, Newham Bridge Primary School, Beech Grove Primary School, St. Mary's Church Sandsend, Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Christ Church, and Great Ayton.
